【ブギウギ】小雪演じるトミの存在感 NHKが明かす意外な舞台裏、共演する吉本芸人も「怖いと言っていた」

“ブギウギ”, NHK’s continuous morning drama series aired its 60th episode on the 22nd. In this episode, actor Koyuki played the role of Tomi, the mother of Aisuke (played by Koji Mizukami), and depicted the confrontation between Tomi and Suzuko, Aisuke’s girlfriend. Tomi is the president of Murayama Kogyo, and in the drama, she skillfully portrays both the imposing presence of a company president and the motherly affection she feels for Aisuke. Fukuhara Toshitake, the executive producer, revealed the reason behind the casting of Koyuki and the behind-the-scenes of the filming process.

Koyuki played the role of Tomi, the mother of Aisuke, who adores the main character, Suzuko. “I saw Koyuki’s movie and was deeply moved by her excellent portrayal of motherly affection. Her maternal instinct is so powerful that it naturally lends itself to this character,” said Fukuhara.

However, the decision to cast Koyuki did not come easily. “She has never done the Osaka dialect before, so she expressed concern about it. She was quite troubled by it. She said she would try practicing the Osaka dialect to see if she could do it. I received her reply that she would do it after giving it a lot of thought. She practiced the Osaka dialect and the lines many times before filming,” Fukuhara revealed.

トミの存在感と怖さ

Fukuhara also commented on Koyuki’s portrayal of Tomi. “She looked great in a kimono and the traditional Japanese hairstyle from the Showa period. Her imposing presence and strong Osaka dialect were beyond expectations. Even the actor Yuma Kuroda, who plays an employee of Murayama Kogyo, said she was scary,” he said.

スズ子との対峙

In the scene where Tomi confronts Suzuko, she doesn’t say much. Aisuke is expected to succeed Murayama Kogyo, so Tomi tells Suzuko to understand and let them talk privately. “The scriptwriter, Shin Adachi, who is known for writing a lot of lines, did a magnificent job with this scene. It was great that she didn’t say much and just left after saying what she wanted to say. I think it’s exquisite. Aisuke doesn’t feel criticized, but rather feels that they can continue their relationship. On the other hand, Suzuko understands it as a signal to break up and feels scared. I thought it was a great script. I don’t think Tomi intended for the two interpretations to differ, but I believe she wanted Suzuko to understand,” Fukuhara explained.

The behind-the-scenes of “ブギウギ” revealed unexpected aspects of the drama, including Koyuki’s impressive performance as Tomi and the intense atmosphere she brought to the set. As the story unfolds, the audience eagerly awaits the further development of Tomi’s character and her relationship with Aisuke and Suzuko.
